Movies
1. Brideshead Revisited (***) : Everything was amazing until heterosexuality started and was shoved down my throat in the nastiest way possible. No offense to Hayley Atwell though, she's so lovely.
2. Quills (**) : Watched it for Kate Winslet. But WTF was the point of this film I didn't even understand. Perhaps subject matters such as Marquis de Sade's blatant pervy state of mind was a bit too much for me? IDK I read fanfiction but even then cover my eyes when something sexually gross happens. Ahh, my virgin eyes.
3 Slumdog Millionaire (***): meh.
4. The Reader (****) : Excelleeeent. Even the over-nakedness didn't bother me. (MAYBE BECAUSE I HAVE GIANT GIRL-CRUSH ON KATE WINSLET AND WOULD'T MIND SEEING HER BOOBIES FOR, LIKE, HALF AN HOUR?) Acting was amazing, nothing was too dramatic even though the film's subject was very heavy. It dealt with stuff that I would continue to think about rather than leave it at the theater (LOL I watched in on my computer but whatevah). For once, Nazis didn't completely presented as eeevil, Voldy-type monsters. Ok, they were pretty horrible people but it was nice to show their human side because they obviously had it. I felt conflicted throughout the whole movie, which is a good thing.
5. Milk (*****) : I had no idea about the history of the gay right movements in USA so this movie kind of opened my eyes to the still existing injustices and the cruelty of the people and the society. The whole cast was amazing/adorable. I was always undecided about Sean Penn but now I officially love him. He's just one of those blessed actors who never let you know that he's playing a role in a movie; he was completely entwined with the character. Also, Gus Van Sant's directing style is pretty much what I'd do if I were a director (everything looks fuzzy and never lets you see everything clearly; but there's always something very crisp and shiny about his movies), soundtrack (Danny Elfman!!) was great and, omg I want to put Emile Hirsch in my pocket, he's 6867857898 times more adorable in this movie than IRL, which was kind of hard to imagine until I had seen the movie.
6. Doubt (***) : Oh man, THAT LAST SCENE. I can't say anything other than this because Meryl was absolutely fucking amazing in that finale moment. I still think she's eeeevil and want her to be put down but Meryl absolutely made me understand where the character's coming from. A ++ ; wouldn't mind at all if she wins the Oscar again. But I gave it three stars because it... didn't really capture me througout the movie as it did in that final scene.
7. Paris When It Sizzles (***) : I love any and all Audrey Hepburn movie just because she's in it but this one didn't really capture me as say, How to Steal a Mllion. The story in story style usually thrills me but I didn't gave a shit about the script they were projecting themselves onto. Nevertheless, Audrey and her clothes were pretty.
8. Into the Wild: (****) : First of all, I WANT EMILE HIRSCH. He's probably the cutest living thing ever. I mean, I'm pretty sure he's cuter than kittens and puppies combined. Throughout the whole movie I kept thinking why does he even try to getting into trouble all the time? I understand he wants to do soul-searching stuff or something like that but I thought it was a little extreme what with burning money and eating a moose alive (that scene was intense). I guess I shouldn't compare a character's motivaton to my own 'cause I always end up sitting on my ass. Anyway, I liked it, but mostly because of Emile. And Kristin Stewart should stop acting with his hair.
9. Issız Adam (*) : I... can't believe I watched a Turkish movie. I don't even have words to express how bad this movie was.
10. The Wrestler: (****) : Firstly, A + to me for watching a 2-hour movie about wrestling = grossest and the most unnecessary 'sport' in the world but Mickey Rourke was amazing at conveying the anguish, sorrow and dissapointment he got himself into in his whole life. And that last scene was amazing. I really teared up.. over something related to wrestling.
11. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (***)
12. Rachel Getting Married (****) : I didn't completely understand the point of the whole movie but Anne Hathaway was awesome, as usual. She seriously is a great actress but people tend to not realize this as she comes across as very annoying. Also random; but her pronounciation of words and voice is one of my favourite things ever since I watched Becoming Jane.
13. Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (**) : Ben Whishaw, you're awfully pretty but I cannot take this film seriously after that scene
1. The Great Gatsby -- F. Scott Fitzgerald (**) : I...don't see the big deal about this book? "Greatest book of all time", LOL REALLY? Maybe according to Americans since it deals with the coruption of the great American dream or whatever. Everyone was unlikable, I couldn't judge the writing and prose style since I read the translation but it didn't exactly move me or anything. Again, OVERRATED.
1. The O.C -- Forth Season (****) : Oh man, I forgot how much I actually enjoy this show. Especially now without Marissa! I couldn't watch it since the middle of the second season, hence my confusion with the new characters and Willa Holland suddenly replacing Marissa's mousy looking sister, but I'm glad it did. Biggest draw for me was Taylor Townsend. Ok, I seriously want to be this girl, or want to be friends with her. She's so funny and energetic and smart as a whip and can speak French like its her own native language -- she married a french man for lack of love for fuck's sake. OMG IS THIS MY FUTURE? Also, she's an over-archiver and likes literature and discussing philosophy while wearing the cutest clothes. Oh, and she's cute as a button. I REALLY REALLY LOVE HER AS YOU CAN SEE. The rest of the characters were enjoyable too. Unfortunately, Seth and Summer lost their charm and cuteness but that's because Taylor/Ryan >>>>> everyone. I refuse to believe they didn't end up together having cute French speaking intellectual babies...who love punching people.
2. One Tree Hill -- First Season (watching) :lol shut up, I only watch it for Sophia and fastforwarding a lot. Plus, I borrowed it from my cousins so I didn't really spend time downloading or anything, heh. lol def not watching.
3. Ashes to Ashes -- Second Season (***): idk i like the first season more. and keeley hawes' hair/outfits are so AWFUL, it srsly effected my judgement whilst watching. i continue to love gene genie though, as everyone should do.
4. True Blood -- Second Season (****)
5. Mad Men -- Third Season (watching)
6. Generation Kill (watching)1. Brideshead Revisited (***) : Everything was amazing until heterosexuality started and was shoved down my throat in the nastiest way possible. No offense to Hayley Atwell though, she's so lovely.
